Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Internal communication is a critical element of organizational success, particularly in enhancing employee performance. Effective internal communication ensures that employees are well-informed, motivated, and aligned with the organizational goals and objectives. In Lafia Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, many organizations have adopted advanced internal communication strategies, such as digital communication platforms, intranet systems, and regular team meetings, to improve performance and productivity. The study will explore how internal communication contributes to enhancing employee performance by fostering a better understanding of roles, encouraging collaboration, and increasing employee engagement. It will also assess the challenges organizations face in communicating effectively with their employees and how these challenges impact performance.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the growing recognition of the role of internal communication in boosting employee performance, many organizations in Lafia struggle with ineffective communication systems. Poor communication often leads to misunderstandings, low employee morale, and reduced productivity. This study seeks to assess the effectiveness of internal communication practices in enhancing employee performance and to identify the barriers to effective communication that organizations in Lafia face.
